Areas of Interest at SCU and Leavey: While I am currently Business Undeclared under the Leavey School of Business, after my first two quarters at SCU, I am gravitating towards majoring in finance. Additionally, I am interested in pursuing minors in Marketing, Graphic Design, and Artificial Intelligence!

What are your SCU and Leavey activities/general hobbies: In terms of on-campus involvements, besides being a Leavey Ambassador, I am the Vice President of Marketing for Alpha Kappa Psi, a member of Santa Clara Consulting, a Mindset scholar through the Ciocca Center, on the marketing board for SCU AI Collaborate, and a member of Barkada the Filipino club on campus! Outside of my on-campus involvements I love video editing, crocheting, portraiture, taking photos, and trying matcha lattes!

What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at Leavey? I personally believe that a great deal of employment opportunities and professional development advice has come from the on-campus involvements I've become a part of such as Alpha Kappa Psi, Mindset Scholars, and Santa Clara Consulting. Throughout recruitment and learning through these organizations, they have hosted resume-building workshops, public speaking panels, and it has truly allowed me to improve on an individual level. Furthermore, I've been able to put this growth into practice as I've talked to alumni, ventured out to the Bronco Venture Accelerator Cafe, and networked with others! Aside from these experiences, the SCU Career Center is a great resource for all students looking for jobs/internships! Additionally, Handshake is a great digital platform that many students use as it's incredibly accessible!

Favorite Leavey Class and Why?  My favorite class was BUSN 70 with Stephen McKay! He always found ways to make each lecture super engaging, whether that be incentivizing us with snacks, integrating games into the lesson plans, or giving us interactive lesson review. Additionally, his personal anecdotes that he would tell about his own business endeavors made it much more captivating and meaningful to connect to the content we were learning in class. The in-industry professionals who come to teach at Santa Clara University are just one of many great aspects of the education here!

What made you choose to attend Leavey? Aside from the fact that I completely fell in love with the campus, when touring SCU, I noticed an energy that I hadn't felt at any of the other campuses I toured. My gut knew that this was the place I was meant to be! And as cliche as it sounds, my gut only proved me to be right! At SCU I'm surrounded by like-minded individuals who are all striving to work hard and form a sense of community and belonging. Aside from the campus culture that I fell in love with, I also liked the smaller class sizes. Personally, getting to know my classmates and professors was very important, and it has been so great getting to know the people that make SCU's tight knit community!

What advice you wish you had while applying to college? It will all work out! I remember being incredibly anxious when hearing back from colleges, but in hindsight everything always ends up working out! It's more so about what you do with the opportunities you're given. Many students find college intimidating at first as we all do, but making it "home" through the on-campus communities you decide to find, while professionally developing oneself, and making memories, truly allows for the college experience to take place!
