Areas of Interest at SCU and Leavey: I am an Accounting and Information Systems major and am interested in pursuing a minor in Retail Studies or Entrepreneurship. I am especially interested in how accounting, technology, and data systems intersect to help businesses make smarter and more efficient decisions. Through my studies, I hope to gain both technical and strategic skills that will prepare me for a career in the business and technology sectors.
What are your SCU and Leavey activities/general hobbies: Along with being a Leavey Ambassador, I also serve as an Orientation Leader for the 2026-2027 school year and am a member of Hooks for Hope, a crochet club here at SCU. I was also a cast member in Images 2026 before it closed in February. Outside of school, I enjoy drawing, crochet, reading a good book, watching TV shows, and playing Mahjong.
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at Leavey? The Leavey School of Business provides many opportunities for students to explore internships and employment. Students regularly receive emails from Leavey highlighting internship openings and upcoming opportunities.
In addition, students can search for on-campus employment through Workday. Leavey also hosts seminars, panels, and annual career and internship fairs where students can learn about different career paths, connect with companies, and expand their professional networks. I have attended several of these events and have always found them extremely informative and helpful.
Favorite Leavey Class and Why? So far, my favorite class in the Leavey School of Business has been OMIS 15. The class taught me how powerful and versatile Excel can be and how it can be used to optimize many aspects of business decision-making. The experience was made even better by Professor Sumana Sur, who is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. She not only cares about teaching the material well but also genuinely cares about her students as individuals, which made the class both engaging and enjoyable.
What made you choose to attend Leavey? I chose to attend the Leavey School of Business because of its strong academic reputation and its location in Silicon Valley, one of the world’s leading centers for innovation and business. I was drawn to Leavey’s rigorous curriculum and the way it prepares students with both practical skills and real-world perspectives.
What truly stood out to me, however, was the sense of community within Leavey. Instead of a competitive environment, students are encouraged to collaborate, support one another, and celebrate each other’s achievements. This culture of teamwork and mutual encouragement was something I greatly valued when choosing a university.
What advice you wish you had while applying to college? One piece of advice I wish I had while applying to college is not to be afraid to let universities truly get to know you. While strong academics and achievements are important, what really makes an application stand out is who you are as a person.
Your experiences, background, beliefs, and personality all contribute to the diversity and dynamic of a university community. Being authentic in your application not only helps schools understand you better, but it also helps you determine whether a university is the right fit for you. When you arrive on campus, that authenticity can also help you build meaningful and lasting connections.
