What are you doing this summer? This summer, I worked with a social enterprise in India called Pollinate Group. I developed a new marketing and communications strategy, specifically through their Instagram, to reach a broader U.S. audience. Additionally, I researched different open grant opportunities for them to apply for future funding.
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. Over the summer, I learned to be more resourceful and problem solve my way through obstacles. Working with a startup enterprise in a different country, it pushed me to learn how to use the little that I have been given to still achieve their goals.
What has been the most memorable part of your experience? The most memorable part of this internship has definitely been all of the weekly lunches and activities with the staff. They are fun, upbeat, positive, and constantly inclusive. It was great being able to get to know them and their own career journeys.
What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities?
My advice that I would give to younger students is to not disqualify yourself when it comes to branching out and pursuing new opportunities. As a first year student, I definitely doubted my skills and ability to get this internship, especially when competing with so many other successful students, but I still went for it and have learned a lot from this experience.
