What are you doing this summer?  This summer, I interned at Sanmina as an Internal Audit IT Intern, reporting directly to the Senior Manager of IT Audit. My responsibilities included preparing and updating PBC listings, executing detailed IT audit test plans, supporting special ad hoc projects, and preparing reports to communicate audit findings and recommendations. Through this experience, I strengthened my auditing, analytical, and professional communication skills while gaining valuable insight into the role of IT audit within a global organization.
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation.  A life lesson I learned from this experience is the importance of attention to detail in documentation and written communication within a professional setting. In audit testing, every detail matters, as even small errors can have a significant impact on both my team and the other teams I worked with. I also learned the value of clear communication and collaboration, as I frequently worked with different teams that relied on accurate reporting to complete projects successfully.

What has been the most memorable part of your experience? The most memorable part of my summer was the team building, whether that meant grabbing lunch with my team or having a coffee chat with people outside of my team. I really enjoyed getting to know my peers beyond our day-to-day work and building connections with people across the firm.
What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities? Advice I would give to younger students searching for summer opportunities is to not be afraid to cold email or reach out to professionals at companies they are interested in. Directly connecting with industry professionals gave me the most success in securing interviews, as it allowed me to make personal connections and demonstrate my genuine interest in the company. I encourage students to be proactive when applying to opportunities, as taking initiative can help you stand out from other applicants.
