What are you doing this summer? This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to join Tiffany & Co.’s inaugural SPARK cohort as a Retail Intern in San Francisco, supporting the Bay Area and Northwest Hawaii Market. Throughout the 10 week program, I experienced both the boutique and corporate sides of the business, while also gaining exposure to client development, visual merchandising, retail operations, retail excellence, and other cross-functional teams.
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. One of my biggest takeaways was the importance of staying curious and being willing to ask questions. I also learned how much relationships matter, not only in luxury retail, but in building a meaningful career. Additionally, I realized that some of the most valuable lessons came simply from taking the time to learn from the people around me.
What has been the most memorable part of your experience? One of my most memorable moments was attending a High Jewelry event in Palo Alto and seeing firsthand how intentional craftsmanship, storytelling, and relationships make the world of luxury so special. Watching our teams bring the experience to life gave me a new appreciation for the attention to detail and care that goes into every client interaction.
What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities? Don’t be afraid to pursue opportunities that feel outside of your comfort zone, and stay genuinely curious throughout the process! Your internship does not have to define what you want to do in school and after graduation. Sometimes, the most thrilling part of experiencing new things is discovering what excites you, what you want to learn more about, and meeting people you want to learn from.
