What are you doing this summer? I interned in finance operations at Hakimo, an AI security startup, where I worked cross-functionally across finance, operations, and sales to improve their accounts receivable process and financial operations. It was a great chance to learn how a fast-growing startup runs internally, especially during a summer that included a $12M funding round!
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. I learned that the best fixes come from actually understanding why something broke in the first place. It's a mindset I want to keep using going forward. I also got a lot more comfortable figuring things out on my own without a clear playbook, which I think will matter no matter what I end up doing after graduation.
What has been the most memorable part of your experience? The most memorable part was getting to see how much the company has grown since I started back in January. Watching that growth happen from the inside made it feel really tangible. I also loved getting to meet and work with so many different people across different roles, which gave me a much broader picture of how a company actually runs day to day.
What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities?
Use the Bronco network and don't be afraid to take on challenges. Any internship is a valuable experience and will teach you great skills.
