Thursday, 9/26, Resume Lab 2.0: Insights from a Recruiter, 12:15 - 1:15 pm, Benson Williman Room
For our first of two resume labs offered this quarter, a Senior Manager from Intuitive will be joining us and sharing their insights into effective resume writing alongside Assistant Director of Career Development, Vania Tong.
Resume labs are highly interactive sessions that move you a step closer to your academic and professional goal(s)!
What you can expect:
- 1hr of formal content sharing and workshopping (12:15pm-1:15pm), plus an additional 30 min of optional workshopping time (1:15pm-1:45pm) with multiple staff member support.
- To leave the resume lab with a tangible (digital) item - your new/improved resume draft!
- Strengthened understanding of what constitutes an effective resume
- Increased confidence and tactical knowledge in resume writing to edit your own or your peers' resume
- An introduction to our new digital platform - Jobscan!
What NOT to expect:
- A 1:1 resume review session with Intuitive
- Recruitment opportunities/conversations
In preparation for the lab, please:
- BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP. Should you have difficulty accessing one, reach out to Vania Tong vtong@scu.edu ASAP.

Monday, 9/30, Connections to Careers: Networking in Person and Virtually, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, Benson Williman Room
This workshop will help you master essential networking skills to boost your internship or job search journey. You’ll learn how to craft a powerful elevator pitch and how to speak to a recruiter at SCU’s upcoming Career Fairs.
We’ll also dive into the importance of informational conversations—why they matter and how they can open doors for you. Get hands-on with tools like Bronco Exchange and LinkedIn, and learn how to effectively reach out to professionals, including templates for cold outreach. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your networking skills and connect with the right people!
We will provide 1hr of formal content sharing (11-12pm), plus an additional 30 minutes of optional time to hand craft cold outreach messages on LinkedIn or Bronco Exchange (12-12:30pm) with the opportunity to get coaching/feedback from staff members.
The Career Advice Support Hour (CASH) is a casual, drop-by time to have your career-related questions answered: no appointments needed! Bring a friend, or swing by on your own. The Handshake event serves as a reminder that this resource is made available to you.
