Yvonne Escalante and Lauren O’Connor-Korb have worked together professionally since 2011. As educators in the visual arts, both are immersed in the pedagogy of artmaking and how we create and consume information and meaning. Their investigations have led to focused research on how our material world can be deconstructed, reengineered, and used as tools for building new meaning. Influenced by the toys and cartoons from their childhoods, each artist revisits the role these items had, and continue to have, in developing lasting points of view and engrained social constructs. Through this exhibition, Escalante and O’Connor-Korb will create a space where viewers can experience sculpture that extends a playful invitation to peer behind the curtain to reconsider these systems of meaning.

This event is free and open to the public.
