Reception for the artist: August 30, 2025

In Echoes in Color, Bay Area–based artist and Santa Clara University Assistant Professor of Graphic Design Qiuwen Li transforms language into a vibrant visual and emotional experience. Born in China, Li draws on her bilingual background and graphic design expertise to reimagine the relationship between typography, color, and meaning, exploring how communication shifts across cultures, systems, and personal interpretations.

Li's work bridges art and design, exposing the essence of communication and engaging viewers through an interactive format. The exhibition features her Expression in Colorography, a system that encodes each letter with color, turning language into abstract patterns. It also presents Old is the New New, a series of experimental posters where Li uses color and form to explore language on a more personal level.

Triton Museum of Art, a nonprofit institution and vital community resource, provides accessible exhibitions and education programs that showcase a broad range of contemporary California art.
