Maggie Wander (Art and Art History) presented her paper "Placing the Past: Site-Specific Contemporary Art and Ecological Collapse in Oceania" at the Pacific Arts Association (PAA) International Symposium in Leiden, Netherlands. The paper investigated the material implications of three site-specific artworks in Oceania to bring the past to bear on today's climate crisis. Maggie is heavily involved in the PAA, serving as co-Executive Editor of the affiliate journal, Pacific Arts, since 2020. Additionally, at this recent symposium, Maggie was elected to serve as Vice President of North America, and is excited to strengthen and grow the vibrant network of scholars and artists in the region.
