Lily Chappell
"Hello! My name is Lily Chappell and I grew up in Orange County, California, but recently moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee this past summer! I came to Santa Clara as an Electrical Engineering student, but became interested in Classics the spring of my freshman year when I took Mediterranean Religious Traditions with Dr. Roncaglia, and shortly after switched to an Ancient Studies major. My courses in the Roman Republic and Empire kept me interested in Classics with the in-depth political and cultural descriptions of Rome. Dr. Lindberg’s Roman Republic class was one of the most engaging classes I have had at SCU with our weekly mock senate meetings, which always resulted in some kind of heated discussion. For my capstone project I am researching Ancient Greek and Roman ghost stories, which has been something I really enjoy as it combines my love for learning about ancient cultures with my interest in modern day horror.
