-- “Recovery of faith in a new dimension,” National Catholic Reporter, March 11, 2017 (an essay on the Shusako Endo novel "Silence" -- the novel on which Scorcese based the recent movie).

-- “Human Dignity is the Best Starting Point,” Blog: Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, February 13, 2017 (about free speech at a Jesuit university).

-- “Legitimacy of the Supreme Court Harmed,” San Francisco Chronicle, February 1, 2017 (about the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the US Supreme Court).
