Charles Cantoni

Mr. Cantoni has held various management positions in the medical device and software industries since 1970, most recently as President and CEO of Alara, Incorporated (retired in 2005).

After spending 10 years in the design and development of Electronic Surveillance Systems at Sylvania EDL and ESL, Inc. Mr. Cantoni co-founded ADAC Laboratories in 1970, and became President & CEO of the company in 1976. ADAC provided image processing systems for Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac Angiography. After leaving ADAC in 1985, Mr. Cantoni co-founded and was President and CEO of Virtual Imaging and ImageComm Systems. Both companies provided image processing hardware and software for cardiology imaging.

ADAC and the subsequent start-up companies specialized in applying advanced imaging concepts to nuclear medicine and cardiac angiography with the goal of obtaining quantitative information on organ function.

Mr. Cantoni has served on the Board of Directors of the various start-ups and has served on the Board of Directors of the NEMA Diagnostic Imaging Division, Northstar Computers, Alexian Brothers Hospital, and Coherent, Inc. of Santa Clara, CA (retired in 2008 after 25 years). He has also served on the Santa Clara University Board of Regents from 1980 to 1990.
