Do you know that the United States holds the largest number of prisoners in the world? According to Time Magazine, over three people per week are exonerated, yet many of these stories go untold.
This fall, we were pleased to partner with the Northern California Innocence Project on an event, "Stories of Surviving Wrongful Conviction", to hear firsthand from exonerees and criminal justice activists.
Uncovering history is the focus of our Archives & Special Collections. We were honored to be selected as the repository for the collection of the Sisters of the Holy Family (SHF), a women’s religious congregation founded in Fremont, California. SHF devoted themselves to caring for the poor throughout the West. With the acquisition of their archives we are able to highlight the important role women played, and continue to play, in the Catholic Church.
As we approach the holiday season, and get ready to embark on a new decade, I want to thank each of you for your continued support of the University Library.
