FERPA Release

The Orientation website is updated frequently so please refresh your web browser each time you visit a page within the website to make sure you are getting the most up-to-date information.

Information as of April 26, 2023

General Information

According to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), non-directory student information cannot be disclosed to any third party (including parents) without written consent. Students need to be aware of their rights under FERPA.

If a student would like the University to be able to discuss financial matters and student records with a third party (like parents), then the student needs to complete the FERPA release form. This release may be submitted at any time during the year by completing the form via your Workday portal under Personal, then Additional Data, then Edit.

Trouble with your Workday portal? Contact techdesk@scu.edu or 408-554-5700.

Deadline

For those students who do decide to sign the FERPA release form, many do so during the Fall Registration Checklist steps in their Workday portal. However, the release form may be signed at any time during the year. Some students also elect to not sign the form.
