Session Dates

Summer & Fall Orientation 2018

  • Session 1: July 9-10, 2018
  • Session 2: July 12-13, 2018
  • Session 3: July 16-17, 2018
  • Session 4: July 19-20, 2018
  • Session 5: July 23-24, 2018
  • Session 6: July 26-27, 2018
  • Session 7: September 12-13, 2018
    • Students in the Honors Program are encouraged (not required) to register for Sessions 2 or 3 but may register for any session that fits their availability.
    • Students in the LEAD Program are encouraged (not required) to register for Sessions 4 or 5 but may register for any session that fits their availability.
    • International students are encouraged to register for any session that fits their availability.

Winter Orientation 2019

Registration Fees

Registration fees for Orientation and Welcome Weekend are as follow:

  • Summer & Fall 2018: First Year Students & Parents/Guests
    • $305 = First Year Student (Orientation + Welcome Weekend)
    • $135 = Parent/Guest of First Year Student (Orientation + Welcome Weekend)
    • $25 = Parent/Guest of First Year Student (Welcome Weekend only)
  • Winter 2019: First Year Students & Parents/Guests
    • Fee TBA = First Year Student
    • Free = Parent/Guest of First Year Student

Note: Student fees cover both Orientation and Welcome Weekend unless noted otherwise. Parents/guests pay separate fees for Orientation and Welcome Weekend unless noted otherwise.

What Do Fees Cover?

For students attending:

  • Summer 2018: the registration fee covers the costs of both Orientation and Welcome Weekend; this fee covers lodging, meals, materials, publications, activities, and administrative costs.
  • Fall 2018: the registration fee covers the costs of both Orientation and Welcome Weekend; this fee covers meals, materials, publications, activities, and administrative costs.
  • Winter 2019: the registration fee covers the costs of Orientation; this fee covers meals, materials, publications, and administrative costs.

For parents and guests attending:

  • Summer & Fall 2018: the registration fee covers the cost of meals, materials, publications, and administrative costs for Orientation.
  • Winter 2019: there is no registration fee.

Online Registration

Online registration for Summer and Fall Orientation 2018 for first year and transfer students:

  • Register through your Ecampus account using the information (username and password) sent to you from the Undergraduate Admission Office.
  • You may also make changes to your registration (i.e. changing to a different session, adding or deleting guests) by logging into your Ecampus account again.

  • Registration fees are charged directly to students' accounts under the Bursar Office.
  • However, registration fees for parents, other guests, and Welcome Weekend are paid directly to Orientation upon registering for an Orientation session.

Online registration for Winter Orientation 2019 for first year and transfer students:

  • Link to online registration will be available in December 2018.
  • Contact us at orientation@scu.edu to make changes to your registration.
  • Registration fees are charged directly to students' accounts under the Bursar Office.
  • Parents and guests attend for free.

Walk Ins & No Shows

Walk Ins: The Orientation staff does not accept walk-in registrations (i.e. register on the same day as the actual session or switch to an earlier session without telling us). We kindly request that you register for your session at least one week in advance. If you are registered for a session but need to make a change, please contact us at orientation@scu.edu as soon as possible so we can do our best to accommodate your request.

No Shows: If you do not attend the session that you registered for, you will be contacted to move to a later session. See our refund policy below to make sure you are eligible for a refund if requesting one.

Refunds

Contact us at orientation@scu.edu if you need a refund due to a duplicate payment, removal of guests from your registration, or cancellation of registration. For refunds due to cancellation, your request must be made prior to the Orientation session for which you are registered otherwise your refund may not be approved.

On-Campus Housing

First year students attending Sessions 1-6 in July will stay in one of the campus residence halls. Commuter students attending Sessions 1-6 are also expected to stay overnight in the residence halls unless permission is granted to return home for the night.

First year students attending Session 7 in September will be permitted to move in early into their respective residence halls that they will be residing in for the entire academic year. This residence hall may be different from the residence hall that students attending Sessions 1-6 stayed in over the summer. Commuter students attending Session 7 are permitted to return home for the night.
