THE CLERY ACT
Campus safety and security are a collaborative effort at Santa Clara University. All members of the university community have a role in fostering a campus environment where individuals feel safe to learn, work, live, and visit. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (known as the Clery Act) is a federal law requiring colleges and universities to disclose crime on and around their campuses. In 2013 Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act amended the Clery Act to expand campus survivors' rights of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
In compliance with the Clery Act, Santa Clara University publishes the Annual Fire Safety and Security Report (ASR) for our main campus in Santa Clara and the Jesuit School of Theology In Berkeley. With this publication, it is Santa Clara University's intent to share valuable information for our campus community about safety and security on our campus, crime statistics, and fire safety data, and crime prevention information.
The report published every year by October 1 contains three years of campus crime and fire safety statistics and certain campus security policy statements. The annual report also included important information about campus crime prevention education and awareness programs, resources on and off-campus, and critical information about preventing and responding to dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campus. This publication aims to assist in informing current students and employees, prospective students and their families, and prospective employees by describing the many ways in which we strive to keep this community safe.
