Stacey Ritter

Assistant Professor, Accounting

Stacey recently earned her PhD in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from the University of Southern California. She received her masters and bachelors degrees in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining academia, Stacey worked as a Director in the Provost Office at the University of Cincinnati and as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte. Stacey is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Texas. During the 2021-22 academic year, Stacey will be teaching ACTG 11 (Introduction to Financial Accounting).

Stacey’s research focuses on strategic disclosures, financial statement quality, crowd monitoring, corporate social responsibility, and auditor judgements. More generally, she is interested in contextual factors that drive individual and firm behaviors in financial accounting and auditing. Her research investigating how auditors interpret default settings was published in a top journal, the Journal of Accounting Research, and it also received media attention from Bloomberg for its wide implications across disciplines.

Stacey and her husband, John, have three young children. In her free time, Stacey enjoys spending time with her family, especially exploring the Bay Area, hiking, reading, and playing at the beach together.
