The Accounting Department hosted the 19th Annual Accounting Awards Banquet in the California Mission Room of Benson Center on Thursday, May 23.  About 100 professional, faculty, students and guests gathered to honor thirty-five of our best accounting students as they received scholarships and awards. The evening commenced with grace by Wendy Donohoe, followed by dinner, and an awards program moderated by Siqi Li.

Over $80,000 in scholarships and awards were presented to students by the following faculty:  Amanda Badger, Wendy Donohoe, Haidan Li, Joe Maglione, Hyungshin Park and Susan Parker.  The Department introduced five recipients of Academic Achievement Awards: Seniors Evan Chen (Jerry Kasner Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Senior); Matthew Sipowicz (O. Robert Anderson Award for Outstanding Accounting Scholarship by a Senior); and Matthew Robinson (O. Robert Anderson Award for Outstanding A&IS Scholarship by a Senior); and juniors Brady Smith and Sarah Tatley (Thomas Maier Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Junior). Lewis Chew introduced Alumni of the Year, James Sepe, who graciously accepted his award and encouraged students to maintain integrity as they embark on the world of opportunity ahead of them.  Graduating Accounting senior, Evan Chen, introduced Professor of the Year, Susan Parker, as a professor genuinely interested in the material she teaches and who truly cares about her students.  The evening concluded with Susan Parker reminding students that the Accounting Department is there to support them as they advance through the program and also as SCU Accounting alumni.
