Accounting Information Night 2019

The Accounting Department hosted its second annual Accounting Information Night.

The Accounting Department hosted its 17th annual Accounting Information Night on Thursday, January 31, 2019 in Locatelli Center from 6:30 PM to 8:00PM.  Lewis Chew (CFO, Dolby Laboratories) moderated the event, which commenced with roundtable discussion sessions involving the professionals and students who sat at each of the 26 tables. During these sessions, 55 professionals from 20 different companies shared their professional experiences with over 165 sophomore business students.  Representatives from the following firms participated:

Following the roundtable discussion sessions, students listened to a panel discussion with four SCU Accounting alumni: Rufina Adams (CFO, True Wind Capital), Andy Armanino (Managing Partner, Armanino), Alan Nguyen (Manager, Digital Risk, PwC), and Cynthia Chavez Wing (R&D Finance Associate Director, Gilead Services). The panelists addressed a variety of questions from the moderator as well as students in the audience, ranging from why they chose accounting as a major, how their majors prepared them for their professional careers, what they like (and don’t like) about their job, and alternative career paths.

The evening concluded with a raffle of prizes generously donated by the following companies:  Abbott, Stringham & Lynch, Andersen Tax, Armanino, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Moss Adams, and PwC.  Over ten lucky students received raffle prizes including an Oculus Virtual Reality headset, Bose Soundlink Color II speaker, Powerbeats3 wireless earphones, Amazon Echo, Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones, Earthquake basket including two game tickets, and Target ($25), Starbucks ($25) and Amazon gift cards (2-$100 each).
