Accounting Information Night

The Accounting Department hosted the 22nd annual Accounting Information Night on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 7:00-8:30 pm, virtually via Zoom.

The Accounting Department hosted the 22nd annual Accounting Information Night on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 7:00-8:30 pm, virtually via Zoom. The event was co-moderated by Lewis Chew (former CFO, Dolby) and Ryan Chew (Senior Financial Analyst, Intuitive Surgical), and featured the following four alumni:

  • Trisha Chang ’05 – Head of FP&A Product (Skillz)
  • Ivan Krayniy ’14 – Senior Director, Strategy & Transactions (EY-Parthenon)
  • Sandy Mendoza ’02 – Director, Accounting Controllership (Google)
  • Derek Nishikawa ’14 – Senior Manager (PwC)

Accounting Information Night was well attended by over 190 business students and 57 professionals from various accounting firms. The event commenced with a panel discussion and also included two breakout room sessions which provided the opportunity for small group discussions with accounting professionals. Both professional and student feedback was positive, including comments about the professionals being “…open and honest in their answers about their professions.”  The panelists acknowledged that an accounting career can be challenging but encouraged students to be curious, own their career, and take the time to connect.   Students also gained insight into the accounting profession and learned that “Accounting is useful in all aspects of business” and “…found out that accounting is more exciting than its reputation.”
