Alumna Kristine "Tina" Caratan Receives Honors

Alumna Kristine “Tina” Caratan (SCU Accounting ’74) is honored by Beta Alpha Psi with an Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award.

Congratulations to Alumna Kristine “Tina” Caratan (SCU Accounting ’74) for being honored by Beta Alpha Psi with an Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award for her contributions as a faculty advisor of the Beta Chi chapter at San Francisco State University.  Beta Alpha Psi is the international honor organization for financial information students and professionals. The Outstanding Faculty Advisor Awards are presented each year at the Beta Alpha Psi annual meeting (in Anaheim this year) to faculty advisors who “go above and beyond the requirements of a faculty advisor”. Not only are the recipients of the Award recognized in front of their chapter and their peers, they also receive a plaque and a $5,000 cash award in recognition of their achievements, sponsored by RSM. Out of the 322 active chapters of Beta Alpha Psi, only five faculty advisors received this honor in 2017.

Tina is a former business assurance partner at Moss Adams LLP. She was the firm’s Northern California Not-for-Profit niche leader. After retiring her partnership interest, Tina, in addition to her consulting practice in the NFP community, has been working as a part-time adjunct faculty member at SFSU. Tina has been a long-time member of the SCU Accounting Advisory Board. Tina has realized her long-time dream of teaching at her alma mater in 2016-2017 by teaching Accounting Ethics classes at SCU.
