Alex Field, Michel and Mary Orradre Professor of Economics, was interviewed by NBC Bay Area about the Federal Reserve’s recent increase in interest rates – the first in almost a decade.

“Santa Clara University economist Alex Field says today’s announcement is good news for your savings account. Banks will offer a slightly higher interest for your deposits. The downside: It will cost you a little more now to borrow money for a car or a home. Credit card interest rates will likely increase too.”
