Chuck Byers : Chipotle : KLIV
Chuck Byers, Professor of Practice in marketing, spoke to KLIV radio about Chipotle’s handling of the recent outbreak of food-borne illnesses from their restaurants and its decision to shut all stores for 4 hours to train employees on food safety.
An excerpt from the radio clip:
Professor Byers says while the ultimate proof will be if people continue to fall ill going forward, the Monday mass meeting did set chipotle on the right course. “The company has recognized the dire depths to which the brand has fallen, and I think they did a great job of making lemonade out of lemons by not just doing the training, but putting an imperative on the value they put on the training. Literally making a big deal by shutting down their restaurants and telling people they’re shutting down their restaurants.”
