Sanjiv Das : Financial Advisor’s using behavioral science : Forbes
Sanjiv Das, William and Janice Terry Professor of Finance and Business Analytics, was quoted in Forbes and four other outlets about why financial advisors are now using behavioral science to diversify portfolios. The Forbes article discusses how some of the top financial advisors have shifted their management philosophy to a goals oriented style of portfolio management.
Professor Das argues that this type of strategy is compatible with the traditional risk-based asset allocation and financial advisors can assign the appropriate risk level to each portfolio that can lead to help clients achieve their goals.
“If you can tell people, ‘I’m working to reach your goals,’ it’s more understandable than if you say, ‘Your portfolio has an expected return of 10% and a standard deviation of 20%,’ ’’ Das says in the article.
