Santa Clara University's Online MBA Program Ranks Among Top 10 in Nation

The Leavey School of Business earns No. 1 spot in both Career Outcomes and Academic Experience in newest rankings from Poets&Quants

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (November 16, 2022)

In its third year of eligibility, Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business has been named the No. 9 Best Online MBA Program of 2023 in the annual ranking from Poets&Quants. This marks the school's third year in the top 10 and comes just five years after program launch. In an impressive showing, Santa Clara’s Leavey School took the No. 1 spot in both the Academic Experience and Career Outcomes categories for the second consecutive year, based on an alumni satisfaction survey.

The Online MBA rounds out the graduate business school’s top-ranked MBA curriculum, including the No. 13 Executive MBA (U.S. News) and the No. 19 Evening MBA (U.S. News).

“There is much to be proud of in this newest recognition for our Online MBA program,” Associate Dean of Graduate Business Programs, Nydia MacGregor said. “We are excited to be No. 2 in California and No. 1 among Jesuit Universities. Additionally, this is an amazing accomplishment by our Career team and a testament to the network that our students enjoy!"

The annual rankings from Poets&Quants are based on three equally weighted categories — admissions standards, academic experience, and career outcomes. While admission data incorporates metrics such as test scores, GPA, and work experience, the academic experience and career outcomes categories are determined by survey data from each school’s two most recent graduating classes. This survey measures the authentic voice of alumni and their overall satisfaction with the program and curriculum by gauging the quality of their professors, likelihood to recommend the program, and ability to build a valuable business network. Additionally, it assesses how many students received a promotion or boost to their pay as a direct result of the program.

Insights from this alumni survey show that:

  • 100% of alumni were able to create a network of contacts as a result of the program (Tied for No. 1)
  • Alumni satisfaction with this new network in terms of how valuable it is for encouragement, support, and career opportunities was 9.5/10 (No. 2)
  • 70.00% of alumni gained a promotion as a result of the online MBA program (No. 3)
  • 80.00% of alumni saw a salary increase as a result of the online MBA program (No. 6)
  • Alumni rated the extent to which they achieved their primary reason for obtaining an online MBA degree as 9.7/10 (No. 4)
  • Alumni rated the extent to which they achieved their secondary reason for obtaining an online MBA as 9.7/10 (No. 3)
  • Alumni satisfaction with a career coach and/or mentor through the online MBA program was 9.86/10 (No. 4)
  • Alumni satisfaction with the career services office associated with your online MBA program was 9.71/10 (No. 5)

“These results are the combined efforts of a faculty and staff committed to delivering an unparalleled experience to our students," Dean Ed Grier said. “We are proud that Broncos across the nation have access to the same exceptional quality of career services, academic programming, and powerful Santa Clara network as our on-ground programs. Even more so, we are thrilled that our alumni are seeing the impact of an MBA from Santa Clara in reaching their career goals.”
