Olivia Mulligan : My Experience This Fall With The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley
One of the highlights of my experience so far was supporting HFSV’s annual Hispanic Foundation Ball. It was incredible to watch hundreds of community members, partners, and leaders come together for one purpose. After weeks of planning, coordination, and strategic outreach, we celebrated a fantastic achievement by raising over $800,000 to support HFSV programs. Being part of the team behind such a special event showed me how powerful intentional communication and community-centered storytelling can be in turning shared passion into real impact.
Another project I loved being part of was our Giving Tuesday campaign. I helped create and roll out a digital marketing plan across social media and email, with messages designed to inspire people to give back. It was a rewarding challenge to think about what truly resonates with donors and how to combine heartfelt storytelling with smart, data-informed strategy. Seeing people respond and contribute reinforced for me that generosity often begins with feeling seen and connected.
What has surprised me most in this role is how personal this work really is. Every post, every photo, and every caption has weight because they represent real people and a culture full of resilience and pride. As I continue my fellowship, I’m excited to keep growing, learning, and using my voice to celebrate the stories and spirit that make Silicon Valley’s Latino community so vibrant and inspiring.
