AAH Welcome Back Night
The Department of Art and Art History held their Welcome Back Night on September 25, 2025 and approximately 60+ faculty, staff and students joined in for a fun evening with yummy Banh Mi sandwiches and Mochi donuts.
We have a new department chair, Ryan Reynolds, who started the night with perks of becoming a major or minor, the course sequence requirements for majors, and a brief about Cole scholarships and REAL internship opportunities. Students learned about the new apprenticeship program with Adobe and about the new minors in Arts Management and Animation and Illustration.

Ryan Carrington, the new Gallery Director shared the gallery schedule for year and the exciting artists who will be exhibiting in the Art and Art History Gallery. Ryan also mentioned the new and upcoming SCU/Montalvo visiting artist, Jonathan Calm, who was selected as one of the 12 recipients of the Fleishhacker Foundation's Eureka Fellows Grant! Ryan also shared information about 990 Benton and SCUSAL.

Renee Billingslea is this year's exhibition advisor is accepting student exhibition proposals now for the 3rd floor Student Exhibition Arcade. Pancho Jiménez shared some news about the Spring Student Art Show (formerly Juried Art Show) which is held in April/May for awards at the end of the year and Andrea Pappas talked about the student symposiums happening in May.

At the end of the year we will celebrate with a Paella Party on the last day of classes. After all the announcements faculty raffled a variety of prizes which students got to choose from until it was all given away. Great food, good company, and lots of fun!
