In my lab, we are currently investigating whether and how online communication affects dating relationships, using a paradigm wherein students are asked to refrain from online communication with their dating partners for 48 hours. In another project, we are examining the impact of health-related social control - deliberate attempts to influence a partner’s health behavior - on health behavior and relationship satisfaction. Students in my lab assist in data collection, which involves interacting with student participants, and statistical analysis, writing up results, and presenting them at conferences. It is helpful if potential RAs have taken Psyc 153: Psychology of Relationships and if they have some experience with data analysis.
