Campus Safety

Santa Clara University Campus Safety Services (CSS) collaborates across divisions and departments to support a diverse and inclusive University community in a manner that fosters safety and belonging, and that encourages student learning and success. CSS operates 24/7/365, serving the community of students, faculty, staff, alumni and University guests.

CSS staff are collaborative partners in implementing the Jesuit commitment to cura personalis with all members of our community, particularly with regard to the holistic formation of our students.

CSS monitors the JST campus, coordinating with local law enforcement during emergencies and other incidents to protect the campus community. Below you will find important phone numbers and other resource links to act in an emergency and stay informed throughout.

You can download our Emergency Contact Card to print and complete for your reference offline, as well as a poster of JST's Emergency Preparedness Procedures.

Mass Communication Alert Systems:

All SCU active students, staff, and faculty are automatically enrolled in SCU Bronco Alerts. You may opt out of the alert system at any time.

SCU Bronco Alerts will consist of Emergency Notifications, Timely Warnings* and other types of safety messaging. They can be issued to the Campus Community via SMS text message, voice calls, email, and in certain situations, social media.

With JST in close proximity to The University of California, Berkeley, CSS recommends that the JST Campus Community subscribe to UCPD’s WarnMe alert system as non-affiliates as well as Nixle, the community alert system utilized by local law enforcement agencies.

Direct Links to subscribe to these services are below:

Campus Safety Services is subscribed to both WarnMe and Nixle services. Depending upon the location of the alert, and the incident's possible impact to the JST campus community, the Watch Commander on duty or other designee will determine whether to forward the alert via email to JST students, staff and faculty.

SCU Bronco Alert

SCU Bronco Alert is the primary means by which you will be notified in the event of an emergency that affects the JST campus and surrounding area. Some examples of the types of information you might receive in an emergency include: shelter in-place or evacuation order; campus closure for any reason; avoid a certain area of campus or streets surrounding campus because of a localized emergency.

To register or update your contact information:

  1. Login to MySCU Portal.
  2. Enter your SCU login information (user name and password).

  4. Select "My Account" from the top right drop down menu to edit your contact information.

Nixle Alerts for JST and the surrounding area

Campus Safety Services is subscribed to the Nixle service and receives alerts from the University of California and Berkeley Police Departments. Depending upon the location of the alert, and the incident's possible impact to the JST campus community, the Watch Commander will determine whether to forward the alert via email to JST students, staff and faculty.
