Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

In her position as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Korin plays a critical role in the development of programs and services to support the academic mission of the University. Korin oversees undergraduate and graduate studies; as well as faculty development, teaching innovation, and the new Center for Teaching Excellence. Korin brings leadership to important projects that impact the undergraduate educational experience, such as the Core Curriculum, the First Year Experience, and the Residential Learning Communities. Korin also oversees co-curricular units that support faculty and students, including the university library, the career center, and the de Saisset Museum.
Prior to her appointment as Vice Provost, Korin served as Department Chair in Chemistry & Biochemistry. She has also served as Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and the Research Committee, among other service roles. Korin maintains an active research lab that uses biochemical approaches to understand the role of nanomaterials in human and environmental health, engaging student researchers from a wide range of majors in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, as well as private foundations. Korin has been recognized for both her teaching and her scholarship, including external awards such as the Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award for talented faculty in the chemical sciences and internal awards, such as the Bernard Hubbard, S.J. Creative Collaboration Award from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Louis and Dorina Brutocao Award for Teaching Excellence.
