Laurene Skinner

Director of Faculty Personnel 

Laurene serves as a resource for faculty and the deans’ offices on issues relating to faculty policies and procedures.  She works on faculty salary and budget planning, coordinates the faculty appointment process, administers the faculty housing assistance program, coordinates the University tenure and promotion process, and administers the sponsorship of foreign nationals program.

Before joining the Provost's Office in 2002, she worked on the human resources staff at Ultratech Inc. in San Jose (1998-2002) and was responsible for corporate benefits administration, benefit plan analysis and recommendations, insurance contract negotiations, development of benefits communication materials, coordination of annual open enrollment, and management of the employees' benefits hotline. She also worked on the human resources staff at Quester Technology in Fremont (1994-1998) and was responsible for employment recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, setup and maintenance of the HRIS and stock option program, new hire orientation, and compensation and benefits surveys.

Laurene received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University and studied abroad at the University of Madrid, Spain. She has been a volunteer for the City of Santa Clara's therapeutic classes to work with children and adults with special needs.
