Supported Software and Downloads

Apple High Sierra OS

We recommend holding off on upgrading your Macs to High Sierra until January 2018. 

Some of the commonly used software delivered on University-owned computers is also available for download.  To purchase software not listed here, please send your request to quotes@scu.edu.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

Adobe Acrobat Reader is Adobe's free reader for PDF files. 

BigFix

The BigFix software is only licensed for computers owned by Santa Clara University.  Do NOT install on personally-owned computers or student-owned computers.  

Google Chrome

Google Chrome is Google's web browser. 

Microsoft Internet Explorer / Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Internet Explorer is Microsoft's web browser on Windows 7 (and still available on Windows 10).

Microsoft Edge is Microsoft's web browser on Windows 10.

Both browser programs are built-in to Windows.

Mozilla Firefox ESR

Mozilla Firefox is Mozilla's web browser.  Academic Technology recommends the "ESR" version of Firefox, which has a longer development cycle than the "standard" Firefox.

Qualtrics

SCU has a site license for student, faculty, and staff access to Qualtrics, a comprehensive online survey tool. To enroll yourself, go to: scu.qualtrics.com. Follow the prompts to setup up your account.  Your ID will be your SCU email address and you can set your own password.  If you already had a free Qualtrics account using your SCU email, contact support@qualtrics.com and ask them to migrate your account and existing surveys to SCU's Qualtrics instance.

SmartPrint

SmartPrint is the Santa Clara University branded student print system. All SCU students are free to use SmartPrint, as well as, Staff and Faculty. Guests of the university may also use SmartPrint after they have created a guest printing account.

Sophos Endpoint Security and Control (Anti-Virus)

Our endpoint protection suite (antivirus) is provided by Sophos Limited, a world leader in virus protection software for businesses and educational institutions.  We have purchased licenses to allow all CURRENT faculty, staff and students to protect their campus and home computers.  Contractors and alumni are not included in our license.

To access and download the software, you will be required to login with your network ID and password.  

SPSS

SPSS Statistics is a software package used for statistical analysis.  The license covers CURRENT faculty, staff and students only.

SUPPORTED SOFTWARE

Academic Technology and Information Technology support the following software applications providing installation support, troubleshooting problems, and training.

Any software not listed below will receive our best effort support, however we cannot guarantee a successful resolution for any problem with unsupported software. In some cases, we may need to refer the customer to an outside vendor which may result in a "time and materials" fee to troubleshoot unsupported software. For University owned computers, supported software is available through a number of avenues. A number of the applications can be downloaded from either the web site, or directly from the application vendor's web site. Some may require a departmental purchase for software that is supported, but not provided.
