First Sunday of Advent - Nov. 30, 2025
Kathy Kale ’86, Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations
We realized that in isolation, hope dims, but in a community of cherished belonging, our hope flourishes and thrives.
Fr. Greg, best-selling author and Founder/CEO of Homeboy Industries, reminds us that Hope is not meant to be a solitary experience—it is strengthened in relationship, nurtured in community, and sustained when we recognize God’s presence in one another.
As Broncos, we are called to be people of Competence, Conscience, and Compassion, shaping how we engage with the world and respond to the needs around us. Yet we know the 4th C—Community—is at the heart of the SCU experience. It is community that brings our values to life. It is community that allows us to be people for and with others. And it is community that keeps Hope alive, especially in times of uncertainty.
During this season of Advent, let us remember that the world we strive for—one that is more humane, just, and sustainable—can only be built together. And as we prepare for the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth, may we reconnect with the Santa Clara ideals that dwell within us, seek to find God in all things, and renew the Hope that flourishes when we belong to one another.
