Getting Started with your SCU Alumni Email account:

For those who graduated between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023, you will continue to have access to your @scu.edu account and begin receiving notification of your email transition in May. If you’d like an SCU Alumni Email account sooner, please follow the directions below to request an account through the Alumni Online Directory.

As your email transitions to @alumni.scu.edu, please be sure to update others of your new email address to avoid any lapses in communication.

Here are some key dates in your email transition to watch for:

May 10

Email notification #1

June 14

Email notification #2

July 19

Email notification #3 – Your new SCU Alumni Email address is ready to use

At this point, you still have access to your @scu.edu account. You can receive messages to both your @scu.edu and @alumni.scu.edu accounts.

August 16

Email notification #4

August 23

Email notification #5 – Your SCU Alumni Email Account Transition is Complete

At this point, you can no longer receive messages to your @scu.edu account. You will still have access to your past emails and Google drive.

Additional information will be available in each email notification, including details regarding other services for students that will be discontinued (Camino, Duo, eduroam, etc). If you have questions regarding your email transition, please contact scualumniemail@scu.edu.

Please note that at this time, @alumni.scu.edu email accounts are only eligible to those who have received their degree.

If you graduated during or after 2017, your @alumni.scu.edu account automatically transitioned to the SCU Alumni Email account, @alumni.scu.edu. Note you may need to reactivate your account (instructions below).

If you graduated prior to 2017 and haven’t previously had an @alumni.scu.edu account, you will need to sign up for an SCU Alumni Email account through the Alumni Online Directory. Please see the instructions below.

If you’ve previously had an @alumni.scu.edu account but have not used it in 12 months, you will need to reactivate your account. Please see the instructions below.

If you’ve received your degree, you are eligible for an SCU Alumni Email account! Note this does not include certificate programs.

If your school of study has given you specific instructions, please follow those. Otherwise, accounts will transition once per year. You will receive email notification to your @scu.edu account.

If you’d like your SCU Alumni Email account earlier, you will need to request an account through the Alumni Online Directory. Please see the instructions below.

No, SCU does not sell or share any email address information and neither does our email service provider (Google). There is an extremely robust 3rd party market for gathering, aggregating, and selling personal data. Any social-media post, online purchase, conference attendance, or even a website cookie can result in your email address being harvested and then aggregated, sold, and resold. Here is an article from Fast Company that describes this phenomenon and how you can minimize the sale of your email data.  Generally, users should mark messages as spam, or even block the sender, when they receive unsolicited email.

Additional Questions?

Since SCU Alumni Email is hosted by Google, common questions and answers are available online in the Gmail Help Center. For further assistance, email us your question at scualumniemail@scu.edu. Please allow up to 2 business days for a response. Requests to create an SCU Alumni Email account are processed during regular office hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
