Meet the Firms 2022

We extend our thanks and appreciation to the firms that attended our 41st annual Meet the Firms Night (MTF) on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 4:30-7:00pm on SCU's St. Ignatius lawn, and to the officers of the SCU Accounting Association (SCUAA) who organized and managed the event.  This year's MTF included representatives from 27 firms (compared to 16 firms last year) and over 120 students.  Several SCU alumni returned to campus with their firms to reconnect and share the many opportunities available to students.  Overall, the firms welcomed the outdoor venue and reported that students were well prepared. The firms that attended the event were as follows:

Abbott, Stringham & Lynch EY Moss Adams
Andersen Franchise Tax Board Novogradac
Armanino Frank Rimerman Pension Assurance
Baker Tilly Grant Thornton PwC
BDO Intuitive Rosewood Family Advisors
BPM IRS Seiler
CalCPA KPMG Sensiba San Filippo
Deloitte Marcum StoneTurn
EisnerAmper Meaden & Moore Young, Craig & Co.

Undergraduate and CAAP students interested in accounting and A&IS opportunities, that have not yet accepted accounting internships or full-time positions, were invited to attend the event.   To help students prepare for MTF, the SCUAA organized a Pre-MTF workshop the previous Thursday. Over 50 students attended this workshop where SCUAA presented helpful information on attire, conduct, conversation topics, and resume content, followed by a Q&A session.  Noel Kreidler (Assistant Director - Career Development Specialist, Business & Entrepreneurship, Career Center) also attended to answer resume questions and provide guidance on resume\interviewing resources available to students.

This is the second consecutive year that MTF was held outdoors at SCU. Prior to 2020, all MTF events were held at indoor venues (at either SCU, local hotels, or local reception halls). Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in 2020, MTF event was held virtually that year. With many firms and students still concerned about COVID-19 in 2021, the SCUAA decided to again hold MTF outdoors that year. The feedback from this event in 2021 was quite positive, so the SCUAA decided to hold this year's event outdoors again in Fall 2022.

Over 120 students attended the 2022 MTF, with 102 students completing a check-in form upon arrival.  This event served twice as many students as last year.  Also, students reported that the registration\check-in was “fast and easy” and  enjoyed “the perfect outdoor venue”, with the majority of students interacting with more than 6 firms.

A big thank you to the SCUAA officers for a job well done, and for being available to firm representatives at MTF:  Bethany Candler-President, Andrew Amerio-Firm relations, Melanie Cooper-Student relations, Isabelle He-Treasurer, Bryce Otsuka-Layout\Photographer, and junior officers Noah Chak, Thomas Gonzalez, Megan House, Belle Yei and Sydney Yuen for assistance with setup and logistics.
