Accounting Information Night 2020

The Accounting Department hosted the 20th annual Accounting Information Night on Wednesday, January 29, 2020

The Accounting Department hosted the 20th annual Accounting Information Night on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in Locatelli Center from 6:30 PM to 8:00PM.  The event commenced with a twenty-minute roundtable discussion session between professionals and students, after which professionals rotated tables for a second twenty-minute discussion with a different set of students.  About 60 professionals from 19 different companies attended to share their professional experiences with over 200 students. Representatives from the following firms participated:

The event was very well attended and discussion groups expanded to include the side and back of Locatelli Center to accommodate all of the students.  Following the two discussion group sessions, Lindsey Piziali (Life Science Assurance Partner, PwC) and Ryan Chew (Senior Revenue Analyst, Intuitive) moderated a panel discussion featuring four SCU Accounting alumni:  

  • Melissa Cappetti-Rustad  - International Finance Integration Lead, Google
  • Brian Dela Pena - Senior Director, Accounting Operations Controller, VMware 
  • Paul Jockisch - Senior VP, Interim CFO, Stanford Credit Union 
  • Carolyn Sted - Senior Manager, Audit, KPMG

  

All of the students provided positive feedback about the event and embraced the opportunity to hear how the professionals arrived at their current career, what their daily activities involve, and possible next steps in their career path. 

 

The evening concluded with a raffle of prizes generously donated by the following companies:  Abbott, Stringham & Lynch, Andersen Tax, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, PwC, and RSM. Seven lucky students received raffle prizes including an Oculus Virtual Reality headset, Bose Soundlink Color II speaker, Apple Airpods, Warriors tickets with parking pass, and Amazon gift cards.
