The SCU Maker Lab and Robotic Systems Lab offer several hands-on digital badges available to the SCU campus community as well as the external community on topics such as Introductory Prototyping and 3D Printing. The Digital Badging Program is designed as a way for participants to develop their skills through online materials and hands-on activities while earning digital badges that can be shared via LinkedIn and other social media.
Badge Structure
Each badge is made of up a collection of modules. Each module has:
- Self-guided online content
- In-person content and hands-on projects
- Assignments to document work and share lessons learned
- A quiz
Through the modules, participants gain experience with the software, tools, and equipment.
For example, by the end of the Introduction to Prototyping Badge, participants will be able to demonstrate basic understanding and usage of introductory prototyping equipment and software through activities working with hand tools, power tools, vinyl plotters, laser cutters, and FFF 3D printers.
