Workshop Series

The faculty, staff, and students of SCU's Maker Lab and Robotic Systems Lab offer engaging two-day technology workshops for community college instructors and veterans. Designed for instructors, teachers, and technicians, these workshops introduce participants to a variety of applied STEM topics that expand their knowledge and hone their skills. We have been offering the workshop series annually since 2023 thanks to funding provided by the Koret Foundation.

Session topics include:

Introduction to Making

Participants learn design and prototyping skills using maker-class equipment and tools through hands-on activities with vinyl cutters, laser cutters, and 3D printers.

Introduction to Land Rovers

Participants learn about mobility, piloting, sensors, payloads, control, and navigation with hands-on piloting of wheeled and tracked robots.

Introduction to Marine Robots

Participants learn about common types of marine robots, buoyance, pressure vessels, and electrical safety with hands-on piloting of marine robots.

Introduction to ROS 2

Participants learn about the concepts, tools, and techniques to program and control robots using ROS 2 through hands-on activities.
