Dear Santa Clara University School of Engineering Alumni, Students, Faculty, and Staff,
It’s time to celebrate National Engineers Week when we shine a light on our wonderful profession so that we may inspire future generations to explore careers in engineering and technology.
This year’s eWeek theme of Imagining Tomorrow could not be any more appropriate. Certainly, we are all craving brighter days ahead and imagining being back with our friends and colleagues on campus in the classroom, in the lab, or just hanging out! But while we wait for those blessed days, we engineers are not sitting idly by. Our students are learning how to advance the process of manufacturing the very vaccines that offer the promise of bringing us together. They are researching alternative energy sources so crucial to address our changing climate. They are advancing humanitarian engineering, racial and social justice, and so much more.
In celebration of eWeek, we have many fun and informative activities planned for you. Check our events calendar below often during the week as new virtual events are constantly being added, and register now for a panel discussion (Feb. 24 at noon PST) on Gender and Racial Bias in Venture Capital, featuring our own Computer Science and Engineering Assistant Professor Maya Ackerman.
Over the past year (and for the past 100 years+), our Bronco Engineering community has faced many, many challenges with grit, determination, innovation, and a deep sense of caring for one another. I am honored and humbled to be a part of this outstanding School of Engineering, and I wish you a very happy eWeek!
