In 2019, Marc van den Berg was selected for the School of Engineering’s highest honor, the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award, in recognition of his support of socially responsible innovation and entrepreneurship and for his service to the university and to the School of Engineering.

Marc led venture-backed startups and multinational public companies at the VP and director levels in Silicon Valley and abroad for 25 years before becoming managing director of VantagePoint Capital and, later, Part­ner at DBL Part­ners, a global leader in the Impact Venture Capital space. He is currently the Head of Ventures for 40 North Ventures, a firm focusing on a broad array of industrial technology solutions, supporting advances in renewable energy, buildings, construction, energy efficiency, and the digitization of a host of incumbent industrial market companies. Marc is also an advisory board member for both the Leavey School of Business and the School of Engineering at SCU.
