The project was built on a past student design, “The Energy Bike”. The purpose was to improve the functionality and reliability of the bike’s gear train in order to power a portable PA system. The team removed extra sprockets, and the eproxy on the motor was removed, cleaned, and reinstalled. More compatible gears and chains replaced the old components to prevent detachment from the train. In result, the generator creates an average voltage of 8 V at “normal” pedaling speed.
