The project objective was to offer a sustainable solution for Walden West to implement in order to preserve the pond located in Sanborn County Park. The students created a proposed aerator system to stop the succession of the pond. A compressor powered by a photovoltaic panel will sustainably oxygenate the water creating an environment which the invasive plant species cannot survive. This will stop the eutrophication process and provide an aesthetically pleasing feature for park patrons to enjoy as well as an educational tool for the Walden West campers about renewable energy.
