HE SAID AND SHE SAID
By Alice Gerstenberg
When I was given the opportunity to direct for this festival, I was hesitant at first but went in ready for all the challenges that would come along with it. He Said and She Said was the first play I found on my search for productions, and it was the one that I kept returning to. Its hilarious comedy, setting and overall themes of friendship and loyalty felt like the perfect things for me to explore and expand upon with a cast and crew! This has not been an easy process in the slightest, but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t the project I am most proud of in my artistic career. I hope people enjoy this show as much as I have while putting the pieces together.

TRIFLES
By Susan Gaspell
Trifles, written in 1916 by Susan Glaspell, opens at the scene of a grisly murder, exploring the roles, identities, and understanding shared between women within the confines of a patriarchal society. As the investigation commences, two women must uncover the story of the suspected murder, the victim’s own wife, through her seeming meanness, feminine ‘trifles’. While watching this play, I invite the audience to reflect on the ways in which we, even implicitly, diminish women’s ideas and interests and the ways in which we define justice, through both the eyes of the law and ourselves.
Content Advisory: Please be advised that these plays may deal with mature themes and may contain mature language and imagery. Recommended for ages 12+.
