Kitchen Town Field Trip: 2017

On May 19th, 2017 FAI hosted a field trip to KITCHENTOWN. Founded in 2014, KITCHENTOWN offers founders of food startups production space, equipment, and the opportunity to interact with a community of like-minded peers, industry experts, and investors to help scale their businesses.

  • Software is Feeding the World: 2016

    On Oct. 7, 2016 the FAI hosted a free event featuring Allison Kopf ’11 in a conversation with Business School Dean Caryn Beck-Dudley. This was part of the Santa Clara Grand Reunion event.

  • Food Innovation-The Future of Alt. Proteins: 2016

    On October 18th, the Food and Agribusiness Institute (FAI) hosted the first, of a three part series, Food Innovation: The Future of Alternative Proteins event. After a 30-minute discussion and a 15-minute round of Q&A, attendees were provided the opportunity to network with the panelists and hear about the internship opportunities available to students. FAI looks forward to hosting part-two of the Future of Proteins event on Thursday, January 12, 2017.

  • Business of Beer: 2016

    On Friday, October 21, 2016 the Food and Agribusiness Institute welcomed fall by hosting its third annual Business of Beer event. The Mission Garden was breathtaking as always and the attendees were abuzz, chatting about the sensational beer being offered by Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, WildCide, 21st Amendment Brewery, Taplands, Golden State Brewery, Santa Clara Valley Brewing, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Morgan Territory Brewing, Seismic Brewing Company, and Working Man Brewing Company.

  • Food Innovation-The Future of Alt. Proteins: 2017

    On January 12th, 2017 the Food and Agribusiness Institute (FAI) hosted the second, of a three part series, Food Innovation: The Future of Alternative Proteins event. This event featured IndieBio, the world’s first Synthetic Biology accelerator. As with the first part of the event attendees were invited for dinner and ecouraged to ask questions during the panel as well as network with event goers.

  • Business of Bees: 2017

    On Feb 8th, 2017 the FAI hosted a panel and discussion over the future of the bee industry. Panelists included research associate in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at UC Davis Bernardo Niño, master beekeeper Roger Quinlan, and president of the Santa Clara Valley Beekeepers Guild Ken McKenzie.

  • Business of Wine: 2017

    On March 4th, 2017 the FAI hosted their third annual Business of Wine in Lucas Hall, home of the Leavey School of Business. The Business of Wine once again brought together winemakers, industry experts, and wine enthusiasts who enjoyed the experience of celebrating California's premium wine industry and sampling some distinctive wines.

  • Hunger Action Summit: 2017

    On March 14th, 2017 the FAI helped sponsor the Hunger Action Summit. During this event attendees could meet a wide variety of experts and professionals in the food industry including members from Feeding America, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, and the California Association of Food Banks.
