  • Business of Beer: 2018

    The sixth annual Business of Beer took place on Friday, September 28th, it was a picturesque fall day. Guests began to arrive at the Mission Gardens around five and started their tasting experience with a first sip from The Bruery. Once in the tasting area, there was much to sample from Seismic Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Taplands, Santa Clara Valley Brewing, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Fort Point Beer Company, CaliCraft Brewing Company, Discretion Brewing, Hermitage Brewing Company, South Bay BrewCo, and Strike Brewing Company.

  • Hunger Action Summit: 2018

    On Oct. 16th, FAI and Second Harvest Food Bank co-hosted the Hunger Action Summit. Over 200 attendees joined and a panel of local officials as well as Second Harvest Food Bank partners shared their expertise fighting hunger across different scales and environments.

  • Live Cell vs. Livestock: 2019

    Exploring innovation in the food industry Center for Food Innovation and entrepreneurship hosted the Live Cell vs. Livestock which examined the production of cellular grown meat. Featured in this event were Cultured Meat, New Age Meats, Missions Barns, and The Good Food Institute.

  • Wasted screening: 2019

    On Feb. 11, CFIE held a screening of the movie Wasted as part of their Ethics of Food Annual Speaker series. After the screening they also held a Q&A with a panel of guests including Viola Buitoni, renowned Italian chef; Shakira Simley, writer, community organizer, and a graduate of Pollenzo, Italy’s prestigious University of Gastronomic Science and Travis Osland On-Farm Food Waste researcher at the Center for Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

  • Sweet Farm group trip: 2019

    On March 15, CFIE and students from assistant director Carol Kelly's class visited Sweet Farm the world’s first nonprofit sanctuary looking to address the devastating impact that factory farming has on climate change. At the farm they got to meet numerous animals, all of which were rescues.
