Meet Catherine Moore

Catherine Moore is currently finishing her Civil Engineering graduate program at SCU with an emphasis in structural design. Throughout her undergraduate career as a Civil, she was involved in ASCE’s student chapter on campus and served as the Secretary from 2018-2020, as well as attending the annual leadership conference. She also helped as  a Teacher’s Assistant and grader. Beyond Civil Engineering clubs and spending the majority of her time in the Civil Computer Lab, she enjoyed playing with the women’s rugby club team and walking her husky to the rose garden. Growing up in Placer County on a horse ranch, she plans to one day own her own horses and once again compete in dressage.

While many students decided to immediately enter the workforce or begin a graduate program at another school, Catherine was determined to earn her Masters at the institution she loved. In her opinion, SCU has some of the best Civil professors who are passionate for their field of work and care for their student’s success and well-being. Earning a Masters also made sense for her, specifically because of the structural field she would be entering and the importance of higher education. Lastly, she also wanted to have additional time to stay in academia and study for the Professional Engineering exam before entering the workforce. SCU’s Civil Engineering BS/MS program was the perfect choice for her professional goals.

Upon graduating this spring, she will be starting as a designer with a structural firm in the bay area, working towards becoming a licensed engineer.
