Class Audit Program

The University and Alumni Association established a class audit program in 1975 for the benefit of interested alumni. The purpose of this service is to provide graduates the opportunity to audit (non-credit) undergraduate courses tuition free.

"Keeping the Bronco pride alive with lifelong learning in the SCU Alumni Audit Program – what a way for a Bronco grad to stay relevant! #Learning Never Stops #Proud to be Bronco!"

SPRING 2026: Registration for the Winter Quarter Alumni Audit will be open on Tuesday, March 10, and close on Thursday, April 2. Please note classes begin March 30, 2026.

Getting Started:

  1. Please note, you are NOT eligible to audit a class through this program until one quarter after you have graduated and have gone through the commencement ceremony for your class. For example, if you graduated in the fall quarter, you will not be able to audit until the spring quarter. The Office of the Registrar needs one quarter to process your graduation requirements.
  2. Classes are available to audit provided that there are seats available. Please look at the Spring '26 course offerings for this quarter's complete list of courses. If a course grabs your attention, call the Alumni Association at (408) 554-6800 to see if seats are available.
    1. If available:  Please follow the steps below labeled "Registration Process."
    2. If unavailable:  Please feel free to check back with us next quarter!
  3. Registration period
    1. You may only audit undergraduate classes through this program.
    2. NOTE:  Registration For Spring Quarter Alumni Audit will be open from Tuesday, March 10, 2026 to April 2, 2026.
  4. You may only audit undergraduate courses through the alumni audit program.
  5. You may only audit ONE course per quarter through this program. Additional courses for regular University audits are available through the Office of the Registrar.
  6. Please note there is a $50 processing fee.

The Registration Process:

  1. Select the undergraduate course you wish to audit, and complete the registration request form.
  2. Your request will be reviewed and must be approved by the course's professor.
  3. After your alumni status is confirmed, the Alumni Office will send you a link to pay the $50 processing fee.
  4. Once the payment is received, the Alumni Office will request temporary access for you to a @scu.edu email account. This account will allow you to use the campus network and access Camino. Since your professor has approved your request, you may begin attending class right away while IT finalizes your access. Both you and the professor will be notified once your Camino access is active.
  5. Your @scu.edu email account will expire at the end of the term when your audit is completed.

Additional Information:

Please note the professor and Registrar’s Office will not keep an official record that you audited the class. In addition, the audited class will not be on your official transcripts.

If you want to use the library during the audited academic quarter, you must obtain an Alumni Membership Card. Please present this card to the Library Help Desk.
