"My hope is that our dialogue will integrate the hungers for truth and understanding, knowledge and faith, justice and bread. Then, we will be educating graduates who will fashion a society, more humane and more just."

Paul L. Locatelli, S.J., ’60 profoundly shaped Santa Clara with his vision. In his spirit, this award publicly and annually recognizes a single Santa Clara University employee or affiliate who has given distinguished and outstanding service to the Alumni Association and Santa Clara University.

Successful nominations will feature an SCU employee or affiliate (e.g., board member, parent, philanthropic supporter) whose service to the University community goes above and beyond. A degree from SCU is not required to be nominated, though alumni are eligible for the Locatelli Award as long as they meet all other criteria.

Who's Eligible?

  • Nominees must be a living University employee or affiliate.
  • Notable service to the Alumni Association and the University should be the major determinant.
  • Rotating Members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and members of the Selection Committee are not eligible.
  • The Paul L. Locatelli, S.J. Award is not granted posthumously.
  • Any exception to the "General Criteria" must be unanimously approved by the Paul L. Locatelli, S.J. Selection Committee and the University President.
  • Nomination submissions should be 500-800 words
