Dr. Adina Ardelean is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Economics at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business, where she has taught since 2008. Her courses cover empirical international trade, applied econometrics, and applied microeconomics.
Dr. Ardelean's research focuses on the micro-foundations of trade costs, investigating how real-world frictions such as maritime and air transport logistics and trade finance shape global markets. Her recent work explores how these factors influence firm-level outcomes, including market entry, price discrimination, and exporter survival. Her research has been published in the Journal of International Economics, European Economic Review, Canadian Journal of Economics, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
Dr. Ardelean is a Volunteer Delegate of the National Economic Education Delegation and served as a Board Member of the Los Altos Educational Foundation.
She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Economics from Purdue University and a B.S. in Finance from the University of the West in Timisoara, Romania.
